Matthew Boylan worked as a 1099 contractor to NASA and was “invited” into the Heliocentric Conspiracy to further his work with NASA creating “space realism” drawings so that NASA could perpetuate the Great Lie.

 A Saudi cleric is garnering headlines for declaring that the sun revolves around the Earth, a clear rejection of all scientific evidence. The comments have sparked discussion about Saudi Arabia’s ultra-conservative religious authority, which holds sway over the nation’s newly enthroned monarch, King Salman.

“Saleh al-Fawzan, one of the most influential members of the regime’s highest religious body, the Senior Ulema Council, said the same thing last year,” explained Weinberg, who has also tracked the new king’s past support for radical terror groups. “King Salman restructured most of his government last month after coming to power, but he kept Fawzan on the Ulema Council, dismissing only one member who was considered a relative moderate.”…… more

Saudi cleric becomes online laughing stock after telling student the sun rotates around the Earth as otherwise planes would not be able to fly

A Saudi cleric has publicly claimed that the Earth is a static object which is orbited by the sun, adding that centuries of evidence to the contrary is little more than fabrication.

Sheikh Bandar al-Khaibari is believed to have been speaking at a university lecture in the United Arab Emirates when a student asked him whether the Earth rotates or is stationary.

The Islamic scholar quickly replies ‘stationary and does not move’, before launching into a long-winded and confusing explanation that appears to the suggest that if the Earth was moving, airliners would never be able to reach their destination.

After telling the student that the Earth does not rotate, Sheikh al-Khaibari attempts to back up his argument with religious statements and quotes from other Islamic clerics.

Perhaps struggling to make his argument understood, the religious lecturer then attempts to use a visual aid to illustrate how difficult it would be for airliners to travel if the Earth is spinning.

Beginning his bizarre summary, Sheikh al-Khaibari ‘First of all, where are we now? We go to Sharjah airport [in the United Arab Emirates] to travel to China by plane, clear?’

Holding a cup of water aloft, the cleric adds: ‘Focus with me, this is Earth’.

Over the next 30 seconds, Sheikh al-Khaibari enters into a baffling explanation of his point of view, claiming that if the Earth truly was rotating, then airliners could just stop in the air and wait for the country to arrive beneath them, rather than waste time actually flying.

‘China would be coming towards it,’ he argues.

On the other hand, he said, if the Earth was moving in the opposite direction the plane would never be able to reach its destination because ‘China is also rotating’.

On concluding his baffling explanation, Sheikh al-Khaibari went on to claim the NASA lunar mission was Hollywood fabrication and that humans have never been to the moon, according to Al Arabiya.

Video of the incident has inevitably proved a hit on social media, where users started an Arab-language hashtag that translates as #cleric_rejects_rotation_of_Earth.

One user pointed out that the footage first appeared February 15 – the 451th anniversary of Galileo Galilei’s birth. Galileo was famously twice accused of heresy by the Catholic Church after publicly supporting the Copernican theory that the Earth and other planets rotate around the sun.

While many are using the hashtag to mock Sheikh al-Khaibari’s views, others said it should be turned into a way to educate young people about the universe

The Masonic Moon Landing Hoax

John Glenn, two-time US senator and one of the first men in space was a known Mason. The number of astronauts known to be Masons is astonishing: Buzz Aldrin Jr. (Apollo 11), Gordon Cooper Jr., (Mercury 9, Gemini 5), Donn Eisele (Apollo 7), John Glenn Jr., (Mercury 6), Virgil Grissom (Apollo 1 & 15, Mercury 5, Gemini 3), James Irwin (Apollo 15), Edgar Mitchell (Apollo 14), Walter Schirra Jr. (Apollo 7, Sigma 7, Gemini 6, Mercury 8), Thomas Stafford (Apollo 10 & 18, Gemini 7 & 9), and Paul Weitz (Skylab 2, Challenger).

This list is by no means comprehensive and there are likely scores upon scores of Masons within the ranks of NASA. Werner Von Braun, the first director of NASA was one of many top Nazi rocket-scientists the OSS/CIA brought to America during Operation Paperclip. So to begin with, NASA is full of Masons and Nazis – not the most historically honest folks.

There is an area of very high radiation called the Van Allen Belt 272 miles from Earth which the Russians could never pass. In fact in 1959 Bill Kaysing reported on a Russian study which discovered that the amount of radiation on the moon would require astronauts to be clothed in 4 feet of lead in order to avoid instant death. John Mauldin, a NASA physicist, said they would need at least two meters of thick shielding. How did the NASA astronauts account for the Van Allen Belt and Moon’s radiation? How were they able to walk on the Moon in such flimsy suits?  Why has no one else before or since gone through the Van Allen Belt?  On top of this, every 11 years the Belt varies through cycles of radiation and 1969-70 during the Apollo missions was at peak intensity. NASA has never provided an adequate explanation for this.

Two years before Apollo 11, NASA director Werner Von Braun and a small team took a mysterious trip to Antarctica. They claimed to be scoping out remote locations for top-secret training facilities, but skeptics say they went to collect “Moon” rocks. Bill Kaysing (author of “We Never Went to the Moon: America’s Thirty Billion Dollar Swindle”) hired his private investigator friend Paul Jacobs to check with the head of the US Department of Geology in Washington and ask, “did you examine the Moon rocks, and did they come from the Moon?” The geologist simply laughed and insinuated that people high in the US government knew all about the cover-up.

Why didn’t NASA make a signal from the Moon that could be seen by everybody on Earth without aid of their TV set? The Apollo astronauts could have done this with magnesium flares or similar technology and it would have been a spectacular display for all to see – proof of their accomplishment. It is interesting that we would travel all the way to the Moon and not take any color video either. They had enough money and technology to put men on the Moon, but they couldn’t spring for some color video? The only black and white video available from NASA is the poor quality recording-of-a-recording that we all saw on TV. Furthermore NASA claims to have conveniently lost all the original Apollo 11 high-quality video and data telemetry tapes so experts cannot examine their authenticity. Blueprints and designs of certain machines are missing as well such as the Apollo Lunar Module and rover.

Award-winning British photographer David Persey is convinced the Moon pictures are fake. In his book he shows anomalies in light/shadows which can only be accounted for with multiple light sources. The only source of light on the Moon should be the Sun but pictures show some shadows are longer than others, shadows cast in different directions in the same picture, and certain undeniably spot-lit areas. For instance he points out that the American flag and the words “United States” on the craft are always brightly lit even when all else is in shadow. There are a couple pictures where extension cords are clearly seen stretching across “the Moon’s” surface as well. When the Apollo astronauts are pitching the American flag it is whipping around quite violently. NASA says that there is no wind on the atmosphere-free Moon, and has never provided an adequate explanation for this. Also if you speed up the video of Neil Armstrong running/bouncing on the moon by exactly 2X, he is clearly in Earth gravity just taking long strides. NASA simply slowed down all the video to half-speed in post-production.

The second man on the Moon, 33rd degree Mason Buzz Aldrin was asked at a banquet what it felt like to step onto the lunar surface. He got up without saying a word and left the room crying uncontrollably. Another time (you can watch on YouTube) he was approached and called out by someone on the Moon hoax and reacted by punching him in the face. He acts less like someone who has walked on the Moon and more like someone trying to live a big lie. He also must fear for his life because he has taken a Masonic blood-oath not to expose the hoax (Also see Neil Armstrong, Ed Mitchell, and other Astro-nots Gone Wild). Before the first manned Apollo mission, 11 would-be Apollo astronauts died from supposed accidents in the line of duty. Three of them “accidentally” had their test capsule pumped full of high pressure oxygen until it exploded. Seven more died in plane crashes and one in a car crash. 11 astronauts coincidentally dying under such circumstances is highly unlikely and points towards the Masons trying to find the right people to sell their hoax.

There are a number of photos supposedly taken on the Moon that clearly show the letter “C” engraved in a “Moon rock.” In one picture another “C” is seen drawn into the ground right next to the rock.  CC is numerologically 33 and is Masonic code, a wink-wink elbow-nudge to fellow Masons. In the Masonic Scary Movie 3, a reporter named Cindi Campbell is reporting on Crop Circles (CC, another Masonic ploy to make you believe in Aliens). Just after this Eminem the rapper (MM = 33 on its side) talks with Cindi Campbell about Crop Circles. The double letter symbology is abundant in Masonry and well-known to initiates.

All NASA mission patches are full of occult/Masonic symbolism and perhaps none more so than the Apollo missions. The names of the missions and crafts are almost always names of ancient gods or astrological signs; they always use Roman numerals, and complex Sacred Geometry, the secrets of which are held by the Masons. Why was it “the Eagle” that landed on the Moon? Eagles have long been used to symbolize the crown chakra. Many mission patches feature the caduceus, serpents, eagles, and other spiritual symbology. The STS-58 patch shows a snake coiling up a pole with a V under it on one side and a caduceus on the other.

The Egyptian Osiris is depicted as being green and so is his wife Isis, like the green Statue of Liberty and her green $ dollars. Jim Carrey, JC, like Jesus Christ, is the Sun/Son of God. In “The Grinch” Jim Carrey plays a green character who steals Christmas. In the movie poster he is walking in front of the Moon, obscuring it, and carrying a sack of stolen goodies. Carrey also played green characters in Batman Forever (the Riddler), and the Mask. He plays Andy Kaufman, a hoax, in the movie called “Man on the Moon” (MM) which features the REM song of the same name (“if you believe they put a Man on the Moon, if you believe there’s nothing up his sleeve”). In Bruce Almighty, after Carrey gains god-like powers, he lassos the moon and brings it closer. In Dumb and Dumber Carrey passes a newspaper headline that says “Man walks on the Moon” and he acts delighted to hear it as though he didn’t know and had never heard the news. Last but not least, in “The Truman Show,” Ed Harris (the villain in “The Rock”) plays the producer of Jim Carrey’s life. The central command station where Harris operates his deception of Truman is a fake moon! At one point in the movie, Carrey is even drawn with an astronaut’s helmet on. These are all Masonic messages being delivered by those who know, and received only by those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. Another recent one in the movie called “The Hoax,” during a critical scene in the movie Richard Gere is shown standing affront a picture of Neil Armstrong on the “Moon.” This is not coincidence.

A year after the faked moon landing a Knights Newspaper poll found that more than 30% of US citizens were “suspicious of NASA’s trips to the Moon.” According to a 1999 Gallup poll only 6% of the US population had any doubts that Apollo astronauts walked on the Moon. It seems that up until now their propaganda campaign has proved quite successful.

Hitler said, “great liars are also great magicians,” and “the great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one.” Hitler actually described “The Big Lie” in his book “Mein Kampf” as a propaganda technique. He said the lie must be “so colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.” 16 years later, Hitler’s propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels wrote in a Jan. 12th, 1941 article called “Churchill’s Lie Factory,” that, “The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.” He is also quoted saying, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, the people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

The president of the International Flat Earth Research Society thinks the moon landings were faked in Hollywood studios with help from Masons Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. He claims that NASA’s reason for existence is to promote a non-Earth centered cosmogony/cosmology.

Werner von Braun never admitted the Moon landing hoax, but just before he died in an interview with Carol Rosin, he said that in order to sustain the military-industrial complex, first they had created the “Cold War” threat. Once that veil was lifted, a false “terrorist” threat would be created and propagated to the public. Once that was seen through they would create a false asteroid threat to be dealt with in an “Armageddon” military-industrial manner. Then their last card is to stage a fake alien invasion using their classified anti-gravity “UFO” technology.

“Think about it. If you wanted an excuse to globally centralize all government, finance, military, police and other institutions, you would need a threat to the planet as a whole. What better way than to kid the people they are being invaded from space? You would have a global problem, a global demand that ‘Something must be done’ and an opportunity to offer a global solution: a world government and army to meet this ‘threat’. The Churning of the Milky Ocean (Milky Way) is a famous and sacred teaching from the Hindu text the Mahabharata.  To churn the ocean they used the Serpent King, Vasuki, for their churning-string. For a churning pole they use Mount Mandara placed on the back of a Great Tortoise – the Kurma Avatar of Vishnu. As the gods and demons churned the sea, a terrible poison issued out of its depths which enveloped the universe.

The Maize God is reborn from a turtle carapace by his sons the Hero Twins.  This turtle is the double-headed turtle that cracks open for the rebirth of the Maize God (seen as a serpent below).

In the Aztec creation story, as the gods continued to create, they had a problem – their creations would fall into the water and be eaten by the dreadful Cipactli.  So it was time for war – the four gods attacked the sea monster, pulling her in four directions.  She fought back, biting Tezcatlipoca and tearing off his foot.  But at last Cipactli was destroyed.  From this enormous creature the universe was created.  All the 13 heavens stretch into her head.  The earth was created in the middle, and her tail reaches down to the underworld (Mictlán) (nine underworlds, to be exact).   You could say that in the Aztec creation story the world is on the back of this sea monster, floating in the water of space (reminiscent of the Iroquois belief that the world rests on the back of a turtle).

In Ancient Chinese, the early Jesuit scholars were the first Europeans to gain access to the Chinese ‘book of all knowledge’ from ancient times. This 4,320-volume collection told of the repercussions of mankind’s rebellion against the gods: “The Earth was shaken to its foundations. The sky sank lower towards the north. The sun, moon, and stars changed their motions.  The Earth fell to pieces and the waters in its bosom rushed upwards with violence and overflowed the Earth.”

The legend of Nvwa Mending the Sky is one of the most representative myths about the world creation in ancient China. Legend has it that in remote antiquity, the four pillars supporting the sky suddenly broke and as a result, the sky had chasms and couldn’t fully cover the earth. The land on earth also spilt open and couldn’t sustain things on top of it. At that time, raging flames ripped through the earth, where torrential flood water, ferocious beasts and birds also wrecked havoc on people’s lives.
Seeing that human beings were suffering such disasters, Nvwa tried everything she could to mend the sky. She selected all types of five-coloured stones, melted them into slurry over fire and filled the chasms with the slurry. Later, she cut off the feet of a big turtle to prop up the sky. Afterwards, she killed the black dragon that caused floods and other disasters and the ferocious beasts and birds harming people. At last, she burnt reeds into ashes and piled them up to block flood water. Thus, disasters were conquered and mankind was saved.

There was a fight between the god of water Gonggong and the god of fire Zhurong. When Gonggong lost the fight, he smashed his head against Mount Buzhou out of fury. Since Mount Buzhou was a pillar holding up the sky, the sky began to fall and caused a lot of damage. Because of that, people’s lives became miserable. Nüwa was really concerned about her people so she picked out colourful stones in Mount Tiantai and used them to seal the broken sky. In this way peace and happiness returned to mankind.

Belief in a flat Earth is found in mankind’s oldest writings. In early Mesopotamian thought, the world was portrayed as a flat disk floating in the ocean, and this forms the premise for early Greek maps such as those of Anaximander and Hecataeus of Miletus.

Some theologians and biblical researchers maintain that at least some of the writers of the Old Testament books of the Bible had a Babylonian world view, according to which Earth is flat and stands on pillars, and is covered by a solid sky-dome (the Firmament). The firmament was the heaven in which God set the sun ( Psalm 19:5) and the stars ( Gen 1:14). The flat earth concept appears to be mentioned in ( Isaiah 40:22) where it speaks of God “dwelling above the circle of earth” which means a literal circle, from the Hebrew word “chuwg”.

Post and Gatty didn’t fly around the world, according to Wilbur Glenn Voliva, they merely flew in a circle around the North Pole. This article presents Voliva’s theory of a flat world, and tells you how you can win his offer of $5,000 for proving that he is wrong.

WOULD you like to earn $5,000? If you can prove that the world is a sphere, floating in space, turning on its own axis, revolving around the sun, you can earn a prize of that amount. Such a prize has been posted for years, offered by Wilbur Glenn Voliva, general overseer of Zion, 111., home of the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church, founded some thirty years ago by the late John Alexander Dowie.

Many have tried to claim the $5,000—and all have failed. The catch is that your proof must not start with the assumption that the world is round, or rather a globe, for Voliva believes the world is round, but a round, flat disc rather than a sphere. Without that basic premise that the earth is spherical no one has found an absolutely convincing proof that Voliva is wrong when he describes his disc-shaped world, firmly planted on its foundations, surrounded by a wall of ice to keep mariners from falling off the edge, and surmounted by a crystal dome in which the stars are hung like chandeliers to light the night. Nor can you submit proof to absolutely disprove the belief of Voliva that the sun, instead of being an 800,000 mile ball of fire more than ninety millions of miles away is really a fairly insignificant affair, only some 27 to 30 miles in diameter and about 3,000 miles above the earth. Or that the sun and moon move in orbits while the earth stands still, that the moon is about the same size as the sun and the same distance from the earth, shines by its own light, and moves in much the same orbit as the sun.

In the Iranian Bundahishn the “targets over the sky” are called the ‘Path of Kayus’ (Milky Way), and the Path of the Dragon Gochihr (the great one of the middle of the sky) is presumably the ecliptic, since the seven planets are the head and tail of Gochihar.

Gochihr stood in the middle of the sky, like a dragon, its Head in Gemini and Tail in Sagittarius, as there are always six constellations betwixt its Head and Tail; its motion is backward; every ten years, its tail returns there where is its head and its head returns there where is its tail.

Chich’en Itza is a remarkable place, I have been there on the equinox, and during the fall and spring equinoxes, the sun’s shadow forms an enormous snake’s body, which lines up with the carved stone snake head at the bottom of the Castillo pyramid.  It depicts the return of the serpent sun god.

“The Maya name “Chich’en Itza” means “The Mouth of the Well of the Magicians of Water.”  (Water here could read milky way which was known all over the ancient world as an ocean, or it could mean those magicians that can bring water / deluge).

Since the launch of Sputnik in the 1950s, thousands of satellites have been put into orbit around the Earth and even other planets. Each has served a different purpose, from complex space stations like the International Space Station to the Global Positioning System. Most satellites can be considered to be “in space”, but in terms of the Earth’s atmosphere, they reside in either the thermosphere or the exosphere. The layer through which a satellite orbits depends on what the satellite is used for and what kind of orbit it has.

The thermosphere is a region of very high temperature that extends from the top of the mesosphere at around 85 kilometers up to 640 kilometers above the Earth’s surface. It is called the thermosphere because temperatures spike to thermal levels

Temperatures are highly dependent on solar activity, and can rise to 2,000 °C (3,630 °F). Radiation causes the atmosphere particles in this layer to become electrically charged (see ionosphere), enabling radio waves to bounce off and be received beyond the horizon. In the exosphere, beginning at 500 to 1,000 kilometres (310 to 620 mi) above the Earth’s surface, the atmosphere turns into space.

The only elements in the periodic table that can withstand 2500°C are carbon, niobium, molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten, rhenium, and osmium. Except for carbon, these metals are very, very heavy and are of course extremely conductive to heat and most are very ductile when heat treated meaning they bend and coil. Carbon even has the highest thermal conductivities of all known materials! So, if you want to cook someone very efficiently and quickly, there is nothing better than a space capsule made out of graphite.

The solar panels which adjorn these machines would barely function even if they could keep it together long enough. A British company found a drop of 1.1% of peak output for every increase in degrees Celsius of photovoltaic solar panels once the panels reached 42°C, and of course at 1414°C silicon actually melts. But wait… the Hubble Telescope and satellites uses gallium arsenide instead of silicon which melts at an even lower temperature of 1238°C.

Excuse number one comes from a few websites such as Wikipedia who wish to insult our intelligence to the max. Here is the main explanation for why satellites aren’t converted into man-made meteorites:

• After 100km altitude it starts to get very hot. At 110km it is 200°C. At 500km it is somewhere between 500°C and 1500°C or more. This is the thermosphere.
• The cause of this heat is the extra solar radiation above the ionosphere, closer distance to the Sun, and above all the vacuum of space which doesn’t allow the heat to radiate away fast enough or allow a lower pressure differential with increasing altitude.
• Space machines are said to orbit between 120 and 35000km+ altitude making them traveling furnaces and obviously a pure fabrication if said orbital altitudes are correct.
• Possible counterarguments against a hot thermosphere are: 1. Invisible stars at high altitude may be responsible for lower heat at same said height; although possible white hot asteroids orbiting the Sun and the detection of the extra sunlight intensity make this unlikely. 2. Long time spans make heating objects very slow and unnoticeable; although it only takes a few months to heat up convective air on the ground from one season to another – in space heat can only be radiated away.
• Above 100km altitude, objects are said to freefall along the curve of the Earth if initially traveling laterally at over 28000 kph. Falling is an acceleration making those objects that have been orbiting for years travel many times the standard speed of light.
• One model of the vacuum at 400km is estimated to be one trillion trillionth of the air density at sea level allowing for an extremely high terminal velocity.
• The easiest way to detect fake NASA footage is to compare it to the control videos of high altitude weather balloons – if not similar then fake.
• There are numerous red flags when analyzing space footage that is not similar to the control: 1. Conclusive bubbles in space. 2. Swimming astronauts kicking their legs. 3. Lady astronaut hair behaving in a totally different way than hair at zero gravity on an airplane. 4. Chris Hatfield caught with wires sticking out his shirt. 5. Chris Cassidy’s Freudian admission of real location.
• There are very few genuine photos of the Earth as a globe, despite 3700 satellites having been launched over the decades (1100 still in operation, although 6,578 are said to have been ever launched into orbit). Any orbiting distance from 6200km away or more would show the whole ball Earth.
• There is no video of the globe Earth, only animations of photo sets.
• There are only two sets of photos of globe Earth (known to the author) said to be genuine: 1. Those taken from the Apollo missions, and 2. Those from the 1990 Galileo satellite.
• The Blue marble 2012 globe Earth picture is a composite of much, much smaller and nearer to Earth satellite photos from various instruments, layered and tweaked.
• The Apollo moon landings are a farce due to the thermosphere and common sense.

Back Story

The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred on January 28, 1986, when the NASA Space Shuttle orbiter Challenger (OV-099) (mission STS-51-L) broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of its seven crew members, which included five NASA astronauts and two payload specialists. The spacecraft disintegrated over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida at 11:38 EST (16:38 UTC).

Approximately 17 percent of Americans witnessed the launch live because of the presence of Payload Specialist Christa McAuliffe, who would have been the first teacher in space. Media coverage of the accident was extensive: one study reported that 85 percent of Americans surveyed had heard the news within an hour of the accident.

Some experts believe most if not all of the crew were alive and possibly conscious during the entire descent until impact with the ocean.

Thereafter, recovery efforts were managed by a Search, Recovery, and Reconstruction team; its aim was to salvage debris that would help in determining the cause of the accident. Sonar, divers, remotely operated submersibles and manned submersibles were all used during the search, which covered an area of 480 nautical miles (890 km), and took place at depths of up to 370 meters (1,210 ft). On March 7, divers from the USS Preserver identified what might be the crew compartment on the ocean floor.^[35][36] The finding, along with discovery of the remains of all seven crew members, was confirmed the next day and on March 9, NASA announced the finding to the press.^[37

The remains of the crew that were identifiable were returned to their families on April 29, 1986. Three of the crew members, Judith Resnik, Dick Scobee, and Capt. Michael J. Smith, were buried by their families at Arlington National Cemetery at individual grave sites. Mission Specialist Lt Col Ellison Onizuka was buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. Unidentified crew remains were buried communally at the Space Shuttle Challenger Memorial in Arlington on May 20, 1986.^[42]

The remains of all seven astronauts from the Challenger disaster were discovered in the crew decks on the ocean floor. Gregory Jarvis‘ remains were discovered in the lower mid-deck along with fellow astronaut Ronald McNair and school teacher Christa McAuliffe.

During salvage operations to raise the crew deck from the ocean floor, Jarvis’ body escaped from the wreckage, floated to the surface, and disappeared back into the sea. On April 15, 1986 [=7], on the last scheduled attempt to recover wreckage, Jarvis’ body was rediscovered and returned to shore.

Alleged Columbia shuttle blowing up over Texas (NASA Image)

The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster occurred on February 1, 2003, when Columbia disintegrated over Texas and Louisiana as it reentered Earth’s atmosphere, killing all seven crew members.

During the launch of STS-107, Columbia’s 28th mission, a piece of foam insulation broke off from the Space Shuttle external tank and struck the left wing. A few previous shuttle launches had seen minor damage from foam shedding,^[1] but some engineers suspected that the damage to Columbia was more serious. NASA managers limited the investigation, reasoning that the crew could not have fixed the problem if it had been confirmed.

During medical school she did active duty training with the Diving Medicine Department at the United States Navy Experimental Diving Unit in March 1987. After completing medical school, Clark underwent postgraduate medical education in pediatrics from 1987 to 1988 at the National Naval Medical Center. Philosophers, astronomers, historians, popes and mathematicians have all drawn global maps long before cartographers as such existed. Cartographers appeared in the “Age of Discovery”, which developed into the Age of European Conquest and Exploitation and took over the task of making maps.

By the authority of their profession they have hindered its development. Since Mercator produced his global map over four hundred years ago for the age of Europeans world domination, cartographers have clung to it despite its having been long outdated by events. They have sought to render it topical by cosmetic corrections.

…The European world concept, as the last expression of a subjective global view of primitive peoples, must give way to an objective global concept.

The cartographic profession is, by its retention of old precepts based on the Eurocentric global concept, incapable of developing this egalitarian world map which alone can demonstrate the parity of all peoples of the earth.^[31]  ~ Arno Peters

The world map in common use today is nothing close to accurate. It has been used to inflate the Western wealthy countries (Europe, US) while greatly reducing other, less rich countries (Africa, Mexico, South America).

The most widely displayed rectangular world map is the Mercator (in fact a navigational diagram devised for nautical charts), but other rectangular world maps proposed as replacements for the Mercator also display a greatly distorted image of the spherical Earth.

In 1967 Arno Peters, a German filmmaker, devised a map projection identical to Gall’s orthographic projection and presented it in 1973 as a “new invention.” He promoted it as a superior alternative to the Mercator projection, which was suited to navigation but also used commonly in world maps. This inflation results, for example, in a representation of Greenland that is larger than Africa, which has a geographic area 14 times greater than Greenland’s. Mercator Projection Map

Mercator’s 1569 edition was a large planisphere measuring 202 by 124 cm, printed in eighteen separate sheets. As in all cylindrical projections, parallels and meridians are straight and perpendicular to each other. In accomplishing this, the unavoidable east-west stretching of the map, which increases as distance away from the equator increases, is accompanied in the Mercator projection by a corresponding north-south stretching, so that at every point location the east-west scale is the same as the north-south scale, making the projection conformal. Being a conformal projection, angles are preserved around all locations.

Because the linear scale of a Mercator map increases with latitude, it distorts the size of geographical objects far from the equator and conveys a distorted perception of the overall geometry of the planet. At latitudes greater than 70° north or south the Mercator projection is practically unusable, since the linear scale becomes infinitely high at the poles. A Mercator map can therefore never fully show the polar areas (as long as the projection is based on a cylinder centered on the Earth’s rotation axis; see the Transverse Mercator projection for another application

In one of the strangest music stories in recent memory, Atlanta rap hitmaker B.o.B. recently posted a long string of conspiracy-theory tweets about how the earth is actually flat, not round. (He also believes that powerful interests are trying to keep you from realizing just how flat the earth is.) It’s easy to dismiss this as attention-grabbing trolling, especially since B.o.B. just dropped a new mixtape, but his Twitter musings are so strange and sincere and extensive that we might have to believe that he actually believes this stuff. (Mental illness seems like a real possibility here, which makes the whole thing a bit less funny.) When B.o.B. was off on that tangent yesterday, scientist and celebrity factchecker Neil DeGrasse Tyson jumped on Twitter to debunk some of his claims:
